The beloved underdogs are back for a third season in "Welcome to Wrexham," returning to FX and Hulu this week.
The docuseries follows the plight of Wrexham AFC, the Welsh team that holds the title of third-oldest professional soccer club in the world. In 2020, Hollywood A-listers Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought the club for $2.5 million in hopes of "turning the club into an underdog story the whole world could root for," according to FX.
The series has been lauded by fans for its much broader focus than the average sports documentary. It follows the heart-pounding moments of on-field competition but also shows intimate locker room scenes and an exploration of the community surrounding the team, which has been a struggling fixture of a working-class town for decades.
